Abbots Langley Parish Council manages and maintains the playing fields in the Parish. Our professional full-time grounds team look after the pitches, mark out lines, cut grass and carry out an annual rolling programme to ensure pitches are kept in an optimum condition.
The playing fields are used during the football season by many local teams and during the summer by our local cricket clubs.
In addition to the sports use, many of our playing fields have children’s play areas. Primrose Hill has recently had a complete refit, with modern safe play equipment, a facility that is used daily by the families of the area.
Our children’s play areas are inspected regularly for safety and cleanliness. If you spot a problem then please let us know, by telephone or email.
At the Manor House Grounds is a Multi Games Area. The MuGA is a fenced area, with multi-activity markings, making it usable for small team football, tennis and other sports. With an all weather surface and floodlights the MuGA can be used year round. Adjoining the MuGA is a basketball court and a skateboarding area, these are not floodlit. Use of the floodlights is chargeable; please contact the Council offices for details. When arranged our staff set automatic timers, so the lights come on at the time agreed.
In addition to maintaining the playing surfaces the Parish Council also litter picks the grounds and ensures paths and fences are well maintained.
The playing fields are a public resource, open to everyone to enjoy. There are no closed areas. Sports clubs rent pitches from the Parish Council and are entitled to use them during the times agreed. If you want to start up a club, or move your regular organised games into the Parish area, then please contact us for information on pitch availability and charges.
