Footpath Walks (Online)

The Parish Council has updated its Footpath Walks.

Previously available in printed format the walks are now available from the my.viewranger.com website. The routes can be printed from the website but the real benefit comes with the free smartphone app. The app uses the GPS and compasses built into almost all smartphones and allows you to easily follow the walk route, with waypoint guidance and images to ease navigation. Links to the Apple and Android smartphone apps are available on the my.viewranger.com website.

Built into the app are the excellent free open source View Ranger Landscape Map and Open Cycle maps, both of which are also excellent for walking. Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 maps can also be downloaded but there is an annual subscription of £24.99 (May 2020) for OS mapping.

You can also download GPX format routes from the my.viewranger.com website if you use a standalone GPS.

To find the walks easily on the my.viewranger.com website or the smartphone app, just search for “Abbots Langley”.

Once downloaded to your smartphone app any changes to the route will not automatically update. Before going on a walk it is recommended that you update the route. Go to the smartphone app menu and select “Sync Content” to ensure you have the latest version of the walk.

All the walks have been tested at least three times prior to publication and they will be checked on a regular basis. If you find any problems when you are out on the walks, please report these to website@abbotslangley-pc.gov.uk with the walk number, clear location information and if possible photos.

Significant changes or updates to walks will be detailed on the Footpath Walks (Updates) page.
