On 6th February this year Her Majesty the Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, many events and initiatives are taking place throughout the year, culminating in a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.
Residents of Abbots Langley Parish can celebrate the jubilee by attending two fantastic events. All residents are invited to come along to both events with their picnic baskets and blankets for two fun filled days with family and friends.
On 2nd June, the Parish Council will host the Queen’s Jubilee Beacon Event at Manor House recreation grounds.

On 5th June, Watford Lions will host the Big Jubilee Lunch at School Mead.

Queen’s Green Canopy – Primrose Hill Fruit Orchard
Abbots Langley Parish Council has received £9,920 from the National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK, to help mark the Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The Council will use its grant to create a fruit orchard at Primrose Hill as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. Starting in November 2022 and spanning 5 years, the Council will plant a handful of fruit trees each year at the far end of Primrose Hill Playing fields. These trees will be nurtured to help them produce fruit that can be enjoyed by residents and visitors of all ages. The Council will also seed wildflowers in the area and install benches where visitors can sit to enjoy the orchard.
Blondel Cluff CBE, Chair of The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “We are delighted to be supporting communities to prosper and thrive during a celebratory year for the United Kingdom. Thanks to National Lottery players, Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be marked by events and activities across the country, including here in Abbots Langley that bring people together to build friendships and connections. We look forward to seeing the lasting impact this momentous occasion will have on people’s lives.”
Any Parish residents or Community Groups that wish to take part in the Queen’s Green Canopy are invited to donate a fruit tree to the Primrose Hill Fruit Orchard.
